Iron Man 3 review & HOOTD deets

Hello everyone! Our usual Friday consists of going out for our date night however this week we decided to order in and catch a late showing of Iron Man 3 in 3D.  We both loved the movie (myself especially since I can’t resist Robert Downey Jr. in the Iron Man).  Following in our K.I.S.S review which we will do for movies we watch which mostly include action thrillers since Umair is a self-proclaimed geeky movie buff.

April Showers Bring May Flowers (& warmer weather please!)

Hi you!

I can’t believe it’s April and I have yet to update this blog! Where is the year going?

There really isn’t much to update since Spring aka warmer weather this year seems to have skipped over! I’ve been looking forward for nicer weather since the end of February which was about the time my fascination for Winter was diminishing.  Basically, the past few months I’ve been shopping away for Spring/Summer outfits and sandals hoping to wear them soon but I’m still stepping out with my lighter winter coats! Anywhoo….I’ll do a quick recap of our life since December.

-Mid December my sister came to visit us during her Winter break.  We had a lot of fun with her even though it was pretty cold! We managed to check out the Shedd aquarium, Lincoln Park zoo, Willis Tower, Grant & Millennium Park, Navy Pier (saw the fireworks there during New Years Eve which turned out to be a great experience), shopping on Michigan ave, Devon (ate at Sabri Nihari–though my sister refused to try the nihari *smh*), and of course introduced her to the famous deep dish pizza & Chicago style hot dog! It was quite an eventful few weeks where we even gave her a taste of public transportation.

-January was pretty cold! I don’t remember doing anything worth noting.

-February was fun despite the frigid cold weather.  There were a few birthdays *ahem ahem* and of course Valentines day.  For my birthday the husband surprised me by taking me to RPM, a restaurant I’ve been dying to go for many months and after several not-so-subtle hints we finally had dinner there.  I loved the food and especially the ambiance at RPM but would not recommend for families with kids.  Valentines day we didn’t go out because I decided to surprise the husband with a romantic dinner.

-March has also been fairly cold for this time of year, or as everyone has been telling me.  There have been a few weekends with amazing weather and thus we have taken advantage by going out and doing our usual shopping, dining, and exploring.

-April has lately been filled with shopping and outings at Devon since I’m helping my family prep for my brother’s wedding in the Summer.  We are all looking forward to all the exciting festivities and of course the family reunion!

For the future, my goal is to come up a with a weekly schedule to update or have some special weekly features for this blog that will help me stay on top of blogging.  We’ll at least that is the hope for now.  Until then see ya’.

Yes, we’ve been slacking =/ on updating this blog. We mostly spent the month of November staying indoors as it has been getting colder, and I was studying for an exam. Therefore, we slacked off but we did spend some time with the family, enjoyed Eid with them end of October, had a few parties after Eid that we attended, did some shopping of course which has been slow but constant since we are building a winter wardrobe (or just me =p). I’ve been on the lookout for nice winter clothes since I never needed any before, therefore bought a nice wind resistant puff coat, sweaters, gloves, a sturdy snow boot and some other miscellaneous items. I’ve managed to collect few winter items because I’m focusing on quality more so than quantity.

This month I’m planning on purging clothes, shoes, & miscellaneous items which have been building up in our small closet and I’m accepting the fact there are many items we don’t need, used in months, don’t fit in or are just in bad condition and need to be thrown out or donated. I don’t like a lot of clutter or buildup of stuff, just want to maintain a minimalist lifestyle–I guess my goal for the new year InshahAllah.

Also, this month I also have some yummy desserts in mind that I want to make for the Husband, and after I do I hope to update the blog with some scrumptious looking pics. =D
Aside from that we have been experimenting with cooking, and the Husband always has creative ideas for what to cook next.
I hope you all enjoyed Thanksgiving, and getting ready for the Holidays/Vacays!

Friday Date Night | Blue Man Group Show

A few weeks ago we had the chance to finally see the show The Blue Man Group.  On Friday afternoon we received a call from a friend who happened to have extra tickets for the show and wanted to know if we were interested.  Of course, without hesitation we said yes and it turned out to be a first double date experience for us.  We caught up with a friend and his wife who also recently got married, and headed with them over to the theater   The theater itself was designed in a very fun and quirky way with lots of pipes, tubes and rods.  We took a few pictures and then headed in to be seated.  Our seats were literally one row behind the “getting wet” section.  As soon as the show starts you are sucked in with funny commentary that is running on a message board.  The show features awesome electronic techno and rock n roll style music.  We truly had a great time at the show and it definitely is worth the hype.

Flatbread Co. In Maui, Hawaii

Looks can be deceiving. One of the worst flat bread pizzas we had. A lot of yummy ingredients, yet no flavor. We had to add salt on top of it to give it some flavor and a whole lot of hot sauce. We would not recommend this place, however, this guy next to us thought this is the best pizza and ate two of em 🙂
