Tempting Tuesday | Support Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Hello everyone!

Today is a special Tempting Tuesday where I am featuring a cause that is very close to my heart, Breast Cancer Awareness. October is all about supporting this great cause and you can look good while doing it too! There are many retailers and companies that create beautiful products for you to purchase and a portion of the proceeds goes towards one of the Breast Cancer Research foundations.

Here are some of my picks, but check your favorite retailers and see what they are doing to support this great cause and promote research in breast cancer.

Tempting Tuesday | Wish(Lust)ing & Fall ’13 Preview

Hello everyone!

Fall transitioning is in full swing in Casa a la AnU. The husband and I started Fall/Winter shopping early this year so we can shop around to buy wardrobe essentials we need and actually love. Last year we inadvertently waited till end of the year to shop, and I had a hard time finding essentials I loved!

This year I’ve hauled for Fall quite a bit already but still looking for a nice detailed black (faux) leather jacket, booties preferably in brown/tan family, some over-the-knee-Stuart’s Weitzman 50/50esque boots, sequined or statement sweaters, (faux) leather gloves, camo/utilitarian jacket or vest, a perfect black coat, and berry color winter coat.

This is my mood board wish(lust) which I’m taking inspiration.

InStyle magazine’s Fall ’13 Preview event at Topshop, which I attended last week, also gave me fun inspiration. Stylish bloggers, and InStyle editor shared their picks for Fall. Leather, camo, chunky sweaters and fun prints (floral & leopard) were some of their picks. Unfortunately, I couldn’t take many pics because my hands were constantly occupied with yummy mocktails and the gratis September InStyle magazine. Regardless here are some pics with stylish Carly Christman, Jenna of Chi City Fashion, Hunter Style, Dana Avidan-Cohn of Instyle, and Fatima my blogger friend.

Tempting Tuesday | Minaudière Uuh La La – Fancy!

Hello everyone!

How was your long weekend? The husband and I had a relaxing, yet eventful weekend despite the sporadic rain that forced us to change our plans especially on Friday. While we had planned the things we wanted to accomplish over the weekend we just had to rearrange our priorities. As the saying goes, “we plan, God laughs.”

After a long hiatus on Tempting Tuesday I finally have a feature! High-end minaudière (fancy for clutches-lol). I have been on the lookout for beautiful minaudière especially ones with stonework or embellishments. The clutches that have caught my fancy lately have been from Jimmy Choo, Marchesa, Alexander McQueen and Roberto Cavalli to name a few.

In my mood board I’m showcasing some of my favorites from these high-end designers. I can’t seem to get enough of these exquisite pieces. A minaudière with the perfect embellishments can really be the icing for any outfit.

For more information on where to find the stone clutches I mentioned on my polyvore collection click here.

Tempting Tuesday | Printed Trouser Pants

Hello everyone and happy Tuesday!

Today I’m featuring the current popular printed trouser pants. Which I consider another must piece in a modest fashionistas closet. These pants can be worn various ways, help to incorporate color/floral/design into a basic outfit, and can be used to colorblock. Most printed trouser pants have a modest fit which makes it a winner in my closet.

The following are my inspiration from high end designers. While these are for inspiration there are many affordable options (even dupes) at Zara, H&M, Forever 21, etc.

My suggestions for picking a great trouser pant would be:
1. Find a print that will go well with other pieces in your closet.
2. Look for a modest fit but not baggy.

Tempting Tuesday | High End Ankle Strap Flat

Hello everyone!

Hope you all are having a great Tuesday.

Today on Tempting Tuesday I’m featuring the ankle strap flat. I have to be honest when I started seeing the ankle strap flat I thought to myself why all the ankle hassle? Flats are suppose to be easy slip on shoes. However I have grown to love these updated ballet flats, and I find the ankle strap detail flirty yet professional on some ballet flats that can be appropriate to wear for work and transition to after work play.

These are the ones that I am coveting recently. The first two on the top row are funky and a little mod. The second two are more on trend with the black and white theme. The next two are edgier and have to be my favorite especially the rockstar Valentino which has been around for a few seasons and I still can’t get enough of. And the last two are my experimental picks. The one on the left is reminiscent of shoes from 1920’s and the one on the right a more modern take with the deep colored textured leather.

Second row: Angeline Lee | Marc Jacobs

Hope you enjoyed this weeks picks and these selections inspires you to pick up a flirty ankle strap ballet flat.

Tempting Tuesday | High End Maxi Skirts

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Today I’m starting a new feature, Tempting Tuesday, where I will feature high end designer pieces. I love to take inspiration from luxury designers and pay attention to details of textile pattern, fabric choices, design, style and fit. I then try to look for high street pieces that feature similar details.

The stand out piece for this first Tempting Tuesday is the maxi skirt. The maxi skirt should be a staple in a modest fashionistas closet. The maxi skirt offers versatility to dress up or down, and can be worn on any occasion or outing. Most of all maxi skirts are comfortable, and during warmer months feel refreshingly airy.

I’m completely lusting over these beautiful maxi skirts. On the top row I’m loving the fresh take on china print with the luscious pleats. The yummy yellow skirt probably has to be my favorite from the set with the gorgeous drape detail. The last in the row was chosen because of the lovely coral paisley print- what a beauty!

On the second row the abstract print is so unique that pairing it with a simple top would let the skirt take center stage. The skirt in the middle looks almost like a beautiful tulip draping so elegantly and the pastel blue is perfect for this season. And the last skirt of the bunch stood out to me because of the clean streamlined fit and the on trend mirror print but instead of being on the sides I love how it’s on the top and bottom.

2nd row (left to right)| Emilio Pucci printed silk maxi skirt| Chloe split front maxi skirt| Prabal Gurung long satin floral skirt

Do you love maxi skirts? What details do you look for when adding a piece to your wardrobe?

Hope you enjoyed this Tempting Tuesdays feature!
