Movie Review | Fast and the Furious 6

Happy Friday!

I’m gonna keep this post short since I updated about our Ohio road trip in yesterday’s blog, and since I didn’t want to over do it yesterday I’m posting the movie review today.

K.I.S.S (keep it simple stupid) Movie Review: Fast and the Furious 6

AnU Overall Rating: 7/10
(Normal) Action Scenes: 4/10
(Impossible) Action Scenes: 9/10
(Racing/Cars) Action: 4/10
Direction: 7/10
Story: 7/10

The husband found it necessary to address the different types of action scenes in the movie thus rating them differently. Part 6 of F&F was more about regular action scenes. The actual cars racing scenes seemed a bit lackluster as true racing cars weren’t used, instead BMW 5 series were used- which doesn’t make sense to car enthusiasts.

Do let us know what you thought of the movie or what plans you have for the weekend.

Thank you for visiting and have a great weekend!!

Road Trip & Spring Deity HOOTD

Happy Thursday everyone!

I hope you all are having a wonderful week. I feel like the week flew by and now I’m looking forward to the weekend.

As I mentioned for Memorial Day weekend we headed out to Cleveland, Ohio. We decided to take a road trip and enjoy the scenery from a car since we hardly get to drive. We arrived in Cleveland late on Friday night and went straight to bed. Saturday morning we hangout in downtown Cleveland, went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (pictures below) as we were entering one of the employees commented on my look and called me “the Spring deity” it made me laugh and I told them I was there to represent Spring. The Hall of Fame was good but not as great as I expected. I think I enjoyed the architecture more than the actual displays inside. In the afternoon we met with friends to have dinner at Stir Crazy Fresh Asian Cuisine. The restaurant has a unique concept of custom creating your stir fry, basically you get to pick which ingredients you would like in your dish and the chef cooks it up while you watch- similar in concept to a hibachi restaurant but quicker! I guess you can kind of screw up your dish if you over do it with the ingredients but mine turned out pretty good. The husband ordered a stir fry from the menu and he also enjoyed his dish.
After dinner we caught a viewing of Fast and the Furious 6 (I can’t believe this was the sixth and seventh is in the works!) You can check out our KISS movie review to see how we rate it tomorrow on the blog.

The next day we headed to Cedar Point with our friends. The husband and I hadn’t heard of Cedar Point until recently- I guess being from Florida the land of Disney World, Universal Studios and Bush Gardens we forgot other theme parks actually exist. Cedar Point was great- it was nice to enjoy some extreme roller coasters but the two hour lines were not fun. The newest roller coaster was Gate Keeper which we rated as second best to Millenium Force- we completely recommend that if you love roller coasters and visit Cedar Point. We left the park pretty late and were drained by the time we got to our hotel. Monday we headed back to Illinois and relaxed rest of the day by watching our newest Netflix tv binge, Alias.

Cleveland Panorama

Happy Tuesday everyone!

I hope you all had a very relaxing and fun Memorial Day weekend. We went out of town to Cleveland, Ohio mostly to have a quick mini vacation and visit some friends. We spent Saturday exploring downtown Cleveland which was quite small, did the touristy things then had dinner with our friends. It was a nice getaway and great weather to officially kick off Summer. I will update later this week with HOOTD and a movie review.

This panorama was taken in downtown Cleveland and features the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I loved the architecture of the museum and look who makes an appearance in the second one!

HOOTD | Turquoise and Peach

Long weekend is finally here! What are your plans for the weekend? We will be taking a road trip to visit some friends and possibly good old amusement park fun.

This hijabi outfit for the weekend features a sweet turquoise and peach color combo with one of my favorite dresses. The color’s work well together because they are complementary stemming from hues of blue and orange. This day look is very comfortable and can be pulled together with any dress that you already have in your closet.

Blues, Whites & Star Trek Movie Review

Happy Thursday everyone!

This will be a quick hijabi outfit of the day. I wore this outfit a few day’s ago when we went to see the new Star Trek movie, Into the Darkness, which I will KISS review in this post (I know it’s a little late but those of you waiting for the long weekend to see it then this might help.) We liked the movie, but I was confused just a tad since I’m not an avid Star Trek fan.

Fashion Show Style | Making the Look “Modest” Part II

Happy Wednesday everyone!

As promised this is part II from Macy’s American Icon’s fashion show I attended last week. If you missed part I or want to see the looks click here.

Sorry again for somewhat blurry pictures. The captions give my review and feedback on how to make the look “modest.” If you enjoy these inspirational pictures then please comment below. Enjoy!

While this looks needs a lot of adjusting to become "modest" what I love is the camo print. This look needs a longer yellow top covering the midriff and instead of camo shorts just switch out for pants.

I love the pop of yellow in this look and the tie dyed inner shirt which gives this look more unique. The only thing I would do to change this look is add shirts that are longer and jeans that are looser.

City Skyline, Street Art & Spring!

Hi everyone!

Hope you are having a great week and looking forward to the long weekend.

Here is the Panorama of the week!  Remember to click on the picture to enlarge and see it’s full beauty.

I came across this amazing street art over the weekend. Her eyes are so mesmerizing! I have no idea if this art has any meaning, so if anyone knows please comment.  **UPDATE: Soon after posting this pic on Instagram I learned from a friend this art is done by the artist Shepard Fairey/Obey Giant.  After doing a bit of research now I know why she has such piercing eyes.  This particular piece is called “Mujer Fatal.”

Fashion Show Style | Making the Look “Modest” Part I

Happy Monday everyone!

Last week I attended an event hosted by Macy’s which showcased the quintessential American fashion designers, Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein and Levi’s. With Memorial day just a week away and 4th of July just a little over a month away, I thought this fashion show gave great inspiration on how to style for the upcoming holiday’s.

Following the fashion show I mingled a bit with the hosts, Daniel Musto and Anne Vincent. Daniel is the celebrity stylist for Fashion Star and Anne is Market Stylist for Vogue. I asked Daniel to help me pick out some fun tops and he enthusiastically walked around Macy’s with me to help me choose a few tops and then even give me some styling tips. While he is great at what he does and had some great pairing suggestions, I realized that it is very true that most designer and stylist get very confused when it comes to hijabi fashion styling. As we started to walk around Macy’s picking out tops I mentioned that I can wear almost any top, even sleeveless, however I would need to know what color long-sleeve tee or blazer/outerwear to pair with and at that point I got the feeling that he seemed a little confused as to what I meant. Nonetheless, he was a sweetheart and I still picked up good styling suggestions from him.

Now for the best part, I will share the looks from the fashion show and give tips on how to make each look more hijabi friendly which to me is synonymous with being ladylike.

The show featured about 26 looks for both women and men, thus I will be breaking this post into two parts. The second part will be posted on Wednesday. Read the captions on each pic for my tips (sorry in advance for somewhat blurry pic, as it was hard to capture the models on the runway.)

Fashion on the Street

Hello everyone!

Hope you all are having a great week. The weather has warmed up in the last few days and it gave us a chance to take some great pictures outside. I’ve been excited to share the first few pictures because we came across these beautiful fashion posters while walking and I asked the husband to quickly take a few snaps for me.
